
Another I did whilst in London.
Major Stewart and Captain Nicholls of War Horse.
This is based on John Singer Sargent’s General Officers of the Great War.
Probably one of the most epic paintings I ever seen in my life.

And then Amanda went above and beyond the call of duty to bring you lucky folks more of our favorite boys. Snuggling in bed, no less! Let’s have a round of applause for this fabulous gal, yeah?

They’re both officers. They both know how to handle themselves in battle. They are both clearly suited for a position of command, which is most likely why they spend the amounts of time together that they do. They clearly have a history, suggested by the playful banter they manage to strike up in their scenes together. And, perhaps most notably, Nicholls is the only one to address Stewart as “Jamie”. The only one. No one else seems to have that privilege.
Ask me why I ship it, and there’s your answer.

So … Amanda and I struck up a bargain. I’d write a sequel to my thing from earlier and she’d draw the tragic WWI homos.
Turns out, our brains must be wired almost identically because this popped into my inbox literally thirty seconds after I’d posted my word vomit. (I think the high-pitched noise I made was probably heard by the dog in the living room.)
